I have spun bearing on my n54 looking for the cheapest alternative. Have you found what your options are about repairing the crank? Took it all apart and found cylinder 2, 3 and 4 rod bearing is bad.
Scored the journals. I'm in the process of polishing the journals to get rid of the scoring.
After that i will check all the clearance with plastigage. If it still within spec, then i'll put everything back together, if not then i'll get a new or rebuilt crank or source a used crank. It looks like the details of what happened were deleted. Sounds like overheating may have contributed? Yeah may have and or something with injectors.

Overheating can cause this by decreasing the bearing gap and not allowing enough oil to get in there. It is odd that we haven't seen any other examples of this with all the water pumps that go out though.
The most common cause is oil starvation caused by low oil level or inadequate baffling around the pickup due to high cornering forces I am talking in general and not specific.
